Introduces the principles, processes, problems, and potentials associated with the art and science of remote sensing of the earth. The book is well written, well illustrated, and of good quality in its printing and presentation. There are numerous excellent aerial photographs and remotely sensed satellite images, many in full color or color enhanced format. Good diagrams that effectively reinforce the text material are included throughout. An excellent glossary and index and an adequate list of additional reference readings are among the book's strong points. Timely and up-to-date, this work is highly recommended for academic libraries at all levels and also for public libraries. D. R. Quisenberry Mercer University
