Kelly (Alliant International Univ.), already coauthor of three other books about management, offers a two-volume, edited set of articles examining some of the scholarship surrounding women entrepreneurs in the 21st century. Volume 1, featuring several quantitative articles, provides an overview of the challenges and accomplishments of many women entrepreneurs; volume 2, using a more qualitative approach, assesses entrepreneurial women in a global context. The set covers a wide range of topics in this burgeoning field, reaching from the work-life balance of motherhood and entrepreneurship to the specific challenges women entrepreneurs face in Italy, Portugal, China, Jamaica, and Cameroon. Although the set covers a plethora of topics, the writing is somewhat uneven; some articles are well written, but several others are dense and difficult to follow as they jump from topic to topic without a coherent flow of concepts. However, the collection still provides a variety of perspectives on the motivations, challenges, and successes of women engaged in entrepreneurial ventures around the world. Summing Up: Recommended.
