Review by Library Journal Review

Criminal procedure in Spanish-speaking countries has been evolving in recent years, with more human rights protections added. This new dictionary includes a listing of English/Spanish and Spanish/English translations, comparisons, and commentary on key terms related to this emerging legal blending. For example, despite the recent changes, grand juries still remain a rarity in Spanish courts, with gran jurado, in Mexico, referring to the impeachment proceedings against public officials for the commission of certain crimes only. Several appendixes, such as slang words for crimes, are also included. VERDICT A handy cross-check on increasingly complex cross-cultural legal distinctions. (c) Copyright 2014.
