Johann Jacob Schäffer was installed as second deacon at the church of St. Nicolai in Hamburg on August 3, 1785. Johann Anton Gasie was installed as first deacon at the church of St. Michaelis on August 30, 1785. Georg Heinrich Berkhan was installed as head pastor at the church of St. Catherinen on February 8, 1787. Heinrich Julius Willerding was installed as head pastor of the church of St. Petri on September 11, 1787. These cantatas were composed for those occasions.
