Summary: | Reproduces, in slightly reduced size, the entire run of this important newspaper which offered news of student sit-ins, marches, and, increasingly, reports on the activities of SNCC field secretaries who helped launch mass mobilization of black communities, especially in the Black Belt areas of Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi. In the absence of significant mainstream media coverage, the newspaper was a bridge between SNCC's southern activists and activities and its northern supports who provided essential financing for the organization. A major documentary resource as well as a necessary reminder of the movement for social justice. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
