Three tourist guides to regional building styles and historical sites in Turkey, Spain, and India for the traveler with an architectural bent. Each book expertly guides the reader through archaeological ruins, historic structures, and significant cities, ancient and modern. Freely's book concentrates on classical Turkey and covers the impressive evidence of Greco-Roman civilization in that region, including the sites of Ephesus and Pergamum; Goodwin looks at the surviving remnants of Islamic culture in Spain as he explores such famous buildings as the Alhambra and the Alcazar; and Tillotson covers Islamic Mughal architecture in India, including the Taj Mahal and the gardens of Kashmir. In addition to these major attractions, each author also introduces lesser-known places that remain off the usual tourist agenda. Each volume is well illustrated with photographs, documentary drawings, maps, and plans. Glossaries, chronologies, bibliographies, and indexes in each volume. --John Brosnahan
