This indenture, made the [blank] day of [blank] in the twelfth year of His Majesty's reign, annoque Domini, 1738. : Between [blank] of [blank] in the county [blank] in the colony of Rhode-Island, &c. [blank] of the one part, and John Wanton, George Goulding, Jahleel Brenton, Daniel Updike, John Gardner and James Sheffield, all of Newport, in the county of Newport in said colony esqrs. trustees for said colony (by a special act of Assembly of said colony, made the [blank] day of [blank] anno Domini, 1738, enabling them to emit one hundred thousand pounds upon loan) on the other part witnesseth, that the said [blank] for and in consideration of the sum of [blank] in good bills of public credit of said colony to him in hand, paid by the said trustees, the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, hath given, granted, conveyed and confirmed, and hereby doth give, grant, convey and confirm unto the above named trustees, and such others as shall at any time by the General Assembly of said colony be appointed in their stead to manage said trust, [blank] ... / :

[blank] am holden and obliged unto Jahleel Brenton, Daniel Updike, John Gardner, Joseph Whipple, John Dexter and Edward Scott. Esprs. [sic] trustees for said colony, in the sum of [blank] pounds, in bills of public credit of said colony, to be paid to said trustees, or to their successors in said office. For which payment I bind my self my heirs executors and administrators firmly by these presents. Sealed with my seal, dated the [blank] day of [blank] in the [blank] year of his Majesty's reign. Annoq; Domini, 17[blank] The condition of the above obligation is such, that if the said [blank] his executors or administrators, shall pay unto the said trustees, or their successors in said office, the sum of [blank] in bills of public credit as aforesaid at or before the [blank] day of [blank] A.D. 17[blank] then this obligation shall be void, and said sum shall discharge one tenth part of the principle sum of a mortgage deed But upon failure, shall be in full force.
