Light (Thompson Rivers Univ.), Nicolas (Univ. of Waterloo), and Bondy (Univ. of Windsor) have put together a fantastic volume of short essays. Featuring contributors from the US, Canada, and the UK who teach in a range of disciplines, "the essays ... showcase the celebrations and successes, as well as the struggles and pitfalls, of feminist pedagogies." Topics range from activist feminist pedagogies to the "imagination-intellect" to the book club as teaching strategy. Many contributors address the rise of the neoliberal university, its impact on teaching and learning, and how feminist pedagogies can resist these trends in Canada, the UK, and the US. The editors note that this not a retrospective of past work but an exploration of the present and future in feminist scholarship. This balanced collection will resonate not only with gender studies scholars but also with faculty and librarians in other disciplines interested in decentering the naturalized structures in higher education through the integration of feminist pedagogies in their classrooms. An invaluable resource. Summing Up: Essential. Graduate students, researchers, faculty, professionals. --Caro Pinto, Mount Holyoke College
