Visions of ancient America /

Primarily a collection of black-and-white photographs of the archaeological sites of Central America, this book is better suited to coffee tables than to libraries. While the photographs are lovely, the text will tell the reader little about the sites. The book includes a short bibliography and maps of each site, but the introduction by Mexican architect Ricardo Legoreta does not provide enough information to make it a key element of the book. Libraries owning Doris Heyden and Paul Gendrop's Pre-Columbian Architecture of Mesoamerica ( LJ 4/15/76) will find this to be an unnecessary purchase.-- Mary Molinaro, Univ. of Ken tucky, Lexington (c) Copyright 2010.
