| Summary: | The study aims at explaining how the Ethiopian Nuer view nature and sexual life. These people are characterized by an extreme paucity of social and religious patterning and this looseness influences their conceptions. As no cultural definitions bar them from nature, they merge with it and identify themselves with animals and plants in spontaneous experiences. As no cultural restrictions on sexual life exist, sensory impulses prevail. Certainly, the Nuer attempt to disguise sexual intercourse, but this withdrawal is part of the sex game going on in the group and is not due to any cultural ideas. with the Nuer as one of them for several periods. The study is based on her experiences during these stays. empathetic research of simpler groups in order to place the case of the Nuer in a typological sequence.
