Summary:" Both a manual on the various methods for working with dreams as well as an easily understandable description about dreamwork methods and PTSD nightmares for general readers, this book will benefit psychotherapists, counselors, academics, and students. Summarizes dreamwork theories and describes techniques that counselors and psychotherapists can use whether their clients presents one dream, a recurring dream, or a nightmare ; Presents clear and concise explanations from top professionals on how their methods can be applied to uncover the deeper meaning of dreams, accompanied by illustrative examples for the reader ; Explains how various practical dreamwork methods are informed by clinical theories"--
"I wish that Working with Dreams and PTSD Nightmares had been available when I was in graduate school in the mid-1970s. There were few courses on dream interpretation--certainly none at my university. Most of the existing literature was either classic psychoanalytic writing--Freud and Jung--or Calvin Hall's empirical approach. Practical advice on "Here's what you do if a patient brings a dream to therapy ..." was nowhere to be found. Professors of a psychoanalytic persuasion sometimes offered abstract descriptions of dream interpretation. Many behaviorists blithely suggested that trainees tell patients that dreams were not relevant to psychotherapy!"--
