Summary:Discusses the impact of Nigeria's 2014 Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act, which not only prohibits same-sex marriage but goes much further, effectively criminalizing LBGT people, and imposing a 10-year prison sentence on anyone who "supports" gay organizations. The passage of the SSMPA has been followed by high levels of violence against LGBT people, including mob attacks, torture, rape, and extortion.
