Goudie, one of England's leading physical geographers, presents, in a most pleasing style, a complete discussion of the varied and complex geomorphology of England and Wales, classic areas in the history of the development of the geological sciences. He commences with a historical introduction to the complexities of landscape interpretation, includes a brief description of the rocks and structures of the area that are necessary to an understanding of the landforms, and then continues with a series of chapters on each of the processes involved in their evolution. As is necessary for such a descriptive book, it is well illustrated; it is also well indexed and contains an extensive, up-to-date bibliography. The only difficulty this reviewer encountered is that certain terms used by British geomorphologists are different from those used in the US. This meant looking up unfamiliar terms; a glossary would have been a valuable addition. Recommended to all libraries serving undergraduate and graduate degree-granting physical geography and geology departments. -C. J. Casella, Northern Illinois University
