Taulbee has produced a two-volume set. Volume 1 deals with issues of genocide and mass atrocity; volume 2 deals with the issue of war crimes. Because of the complexities of these issues, it was a logical choice to organize the work into two volumes. They act as mini-encyclopedias about their respective topics. Genocide, mass atrocity, and war crimes have filled thousands of pages. Taulbee has examined this enormous field and condensed it in a fair and respectable manner. Though not every subtopic could be covered, these volumes provide readers with a strong background on the issue and its current state, using several examples throughout. The well-researched and documented volumes serve as both a reference in themselves and as a springboard to delve further into the areas examined. Summing Up: Recommended.
