This annotated bibliography is designed to provide access to pertinent English-language journal articles concerning women's issues upon which the law has an influence. Also included are articles written in French and published in French Canadian periodicals. The time frame is generally the decade of the 1980s (approximately January 1980 to November 30, 1990). The citations are arranged in the following 14 categories: abortion and reproduction, constitutional law, criminal law, family law, feminist theory, judges and courts, first nations and race, labor and employment, legal education, legal history, legal practice, lesbianism and sexual orientation, pornography, and prostitution. Each category constitutes a chapter. When it is appropriate to categorize an article in more than one chapter, the overlap is indicated by including the cite but not repeating the annotation. In addition to legal periodicals, other sources are included, namely social science journals, humanities journals and alternative press periodicals. Chapter 15 lists relevant bibliographies; Chapter 16 contains annotations of book reviews; symposia are noted in Chapter 17. Three indexes (author, topic, and journal) enhance the reference value of this compilation. It is recommended for academic libraries supporting women's studies programs.-H. Q.
