Bickenbach, a scholar at Queen's Univ., Ontario, is also a human rights litigator and consultant to the World Health Organization. His previous contributions to disability studies include the coedited Quality of Life and Human Difference (2005) and Physical Disability and Social Policy (CH, Jan'94, 31-2716). This new book is part of "The Sage Reference Series on Disability: Key Issues and Future Directions," edited by Gary Albrecht, a distinguished scholar widely known for his contributions to this field. Like other volumes in the series, Ethics, Law, and Policy explores the subject through a variety of useful chapters: (1) "Introduction, Background, and History"; (2) "Current Issues, Controversies, and Solutions"; (3) "Chronology of Critical Events"; (4) "Biographies of Key Contributors in the Field"; (5) "Annotated Data, Statistics, Tables, and Graphs"; (6) "Annotated List of Organizations and Associations"; and (7) "Selected Print and Electronic Resources." A glossary of terms and a helpful index are also included. The target audience is undergraduate students and general readers, but the content is intended to support graduate students, researchers, and policy makers as well. This is an excellent resource with which to begin one's research. It provides a solid overview of the topic and abundant references for further investigation. Summing Up: Recommended. Lower-level undergraduates and above; general readers. C. L. Hebblethwaite SUNY Oswego
