Summary:Growth factors are extra-cellular molecules that interact with receptors on the cell surface to initiate a sequence of events culminating in transcription of DNA prior to cell division. Disturbances in the production of growth factors or the sensitivity of their receptors are important in tumour growth. Therefore, there is much interest in engineering both growth factors and their receptors to intervene in cancer. This book describes a variety of techniques for theengineering, analysis, definition of function and detection of gene expression of growth factors and their receptors. A number of p.
