Summary:This study seeks to add to the understanding of the history of Asyut and of archaeofauna by examining the osteofaunal remains from the Tomb of the Dogs on Gebel Asyut al-gharbi, with a particular focus on canids. Its objective is to shed more light on animals in ancient Egyptian society and religion, as well as on the various functions that Gebel Asyut al-Gharbi (the western mountain of Asyut) fulfilled throughout the course of history.
