Summary:Education administrator and gymnastics coach Lynn Carol Allen was born October 22, 1951 in Nashville, Tennessee. Allen graduated from Harlan High School in 1969. At the University of Illinois at Chicago, she majored in secondary education, minored in physical education and began to study tumbling and gymnastics, making the women's gymnastics team. Graduating in June of 1973, she taught history at Unity High School in Chicago. She opened Lynn Allen's Gymnastics Center, Inc, on July 5, 1977 for youth of all ages. The center moved from a storefront to a large warehouse space on Chicago's South Side, then to Oak Park. In 1988, Allen established Tri-Star Gymnastics, which served 800 children from throughout the Chicago metropolitan area each week. Allen returned to college and earned her M.A. degree in school leadership in 2003. That same year, she became the Director of Multicultural Education for Oak Park School District 97.
