Summary:Interior designer Linda Marie Allen was born on May 3, 1961 in Los Angeles, California. As a teenager, she was a competitive figure skater and one of the only African Americans featured in the Ice Capades troupe. Allen later attended California State University, earning her B.S. degree in interior and environmental design. Allen's career began at lighting design firms that focused on hotels in Las Vegas, and she soon broadened her work to office design. She consulted for Earvin "Magic" Johnson to customize Magic Johnson Enterprises' Beverly Hills offices. With Johnson's encouragement, Allen founded her own design company. She was later selected by Walt Disney Imagineering to be a lead designer in their set department. Allen's firm designed for both office and residential clients, and her work appeared in such publications as the Chicago Tribune and Interiors magazine. In 2015, she was named among the African American Top 20 in interior design.
