| Summary: | Corporate executive and military officer Joseph Benjamin Anderson was born on February 12, 1943 in Topeka, Kansas. After graduating with his B.S. degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1965, he served two tours of duty in Vietnam, where he was featured in Pierre Schoendorffer's 1966 Academy Award-winning documentary The Anderson Platoon. Highly decorated, he served as aide-de-camp to two generals and taught at West Point. In 1972 and 1973, he earned two M.A. degrees from the University of California, Los Angeles. In 1977, Anderson was selected as a White House Fellow before resigning his army commission at the rank of major and joining the General Motors Corporation in 1979. He graduated from the Harvard Advanced Management Program in 1984; and, later served as the chairman and CEO of Chivas Industries. He served as chairman and chief executive officer of TAG Holdings and on numerous nonprofit boards.
