Summary:Bank executive Alma Arrington Brown was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1940. She has graduated from Fisk University and Manhattanville College. After moving to Washington, D.C., in 1973, Brown worked for the National Black Child Development Institute and later served as program director for the National Council of Negro Women. Entering the public sector in 1984, she served as executive assistant to the acting director of the Office of International Business and went on to serve there as the acting director. In 1989, she was hired as the director of public affairs and public relations for WKYS-FM. Brown joined Chevy Chase Bank in 1995, and later became vice chairperson of Black Entertainment Television Financial Services, a joint venture between Chevy Chase and BET. Her community involvement extends to such organizations as the National Urban League and the Girl Scouts. She has received numerous awards for her work.
