Summary:Photographer Martha Gean Brock was born on September 19, 1958, in Isola, Mississippi. At Mississippi Valley State University, she was photographer and editor of the college yearbook. She graduated in 1980, with her B.S. degree in criminal justice. Her photographs of Alicia Keys, R. Kelly, Rosa Parks, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Michael Jordan, have appeared in The Chicago Defender, Jet, Ebony, Essence, N'Digo, Sister 2 Sister, Upscale and Vibe magazines. She established Martha Brock Photography in 1992. Brock specialized in celebrity, commercial, fashion, special events and public relations photography. Her photos are featured on the websites of Chicago's WVAZ, WGCI, and WPWX radio stations in Chicago. The Chicago Housing Authority and The Boys and Girls Clubs are among her clients. Brock is a founder of the Chicago Alliance of African American Photographer. She was elected to the Trustee Board of Oak Park, Illinois, in 2005.
