Summary:Federal judge and trial lawyer Andrew L. Jefferson, Jr. was born on August 19, 1934 in Dallas, Texas. Jefferson received his B.A. degree from Texas Southern University in 1956 and his J.D. degree from the University of Texas School of Law in 1959. In 1960, Jefferson joined Washington & Jefferson, and in 1962, he became assistant criminal district attorney for San Antonio County. Jefferson then served as chief assistant to the U.S. Attorney in the Western District of Texas. In 1968, he worked as trial counsel for Humble Oil & Refinery Company. In 1970, Jefferson served as judge for the Court of Domestic Relations in Harris County, and from 1973 to 1975, as judge of the 208th District Court of Texas. In 2001, the Andrew L. Jefferson Endowment for Trial Advocacy was established at Texas Southern University's Thurgood Marshall School of Law. Jefferson passed away on December 8, 2008 at age 74.
