Summary: | Silicon Valley executive, Kenneth Louis Coleman was born on December 1, 1942, in Centralia, Illinois. Coleman earned his B.S. degree in industrial management in 1965; and his M.B.A. degree from Ohio State University in 1972. Coleman attended Officer Candidate School and served in the U.S. Air Force achieving the rank of Captain. He was introduced to Hewlett-Packard Company by Palo Alto California's first African American Mayor, Roy Clay. Coleman held several positions with Hewlett-Packard. In 1982, Coleman joined Activision, Inc., becoming vice president of product development. Hired by Silicon Graphics in 1987, Coleman became executive vice president of sales, services and marketing. In 2001, he was named one of the top twenty-five African American executives in technology by Black Enterprise magazine. Upon retirement in 2001, Coleman founded and became CEO of ITM Software in Mountain View, California, which sold to BMC Software. In 2006, Coleman was named chairman of the board of Accelrys.
