Summary:Associate chief executive and Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Sorority, Inc. National President Barbara Anne McKinzie was born on January 2, 1954 in Ada, Oklahoma. McKinzie attended East Central University where she was initiated into the Eta Pi Chapter in 1973. After receiving her B.S. degree, McKinzie earned her M.A. degree from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. McKinzie spent many years serving in the name of AKA Sorority, Inc. In 1978, she became the financial advisor for AKA Sorority, Inc.'s National President, Barbara K. Phillips and held the position again in 1982 under Faye B. Bryant. She became the fourth executive director of the sorority in 1985. In 1998, McKinzie became international treasurer for the sorority and chaired a Strategic Planning Committee that issued a host of recommendations to fortify AKA Sorority, Inc. for decades to come. She served as comptroller for the Chicago Housing Authority and as CEO of BMC Associates.
