Summary:Investment chief executive Michelle Lynn Collins was born on March 27, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois. Collins earned her B.A. degree in economics from Yale University in 1982; and her M.B.A. degree from Harvard University in 1986. Collins began her career at William Blair & Company, a Chicago-based investment firm offering asset management, equity research and private brokerage. In 1991, she was promoted to principal partner in the firm's corporate finance department. In 1997, Collins joined John Svoboda to launch Svoboda, Collins, LLC, a private equity firm. From 1998 to 2006, Collins was managing director of the firm. Collins was also a board member and director of CDW Computer Centers, Inc., from 1996 to 2007. She has been a board member and president of Chicago Sinfonietta, helping to restructure its business model and secure its financial foundation. She also served on the boards of ULTA Beauty, PrivateBank, and Health Care Service Corporation.
