Summary: | Entrepreneur and business executive Cheryl Mayberry McKissack was born on June 24, 1955 in Seattle, Washington. McKissack attended Dunlap Elementary and graduated from Franklin High School. She earned her B.S degree in political science from Seattle University in 1976 and went on to earn her M.B.A. degree from Northwestern Kellogg School of Management in 1989. McKissack began her career with the IBM Corporation as a sales and marketing executive. She later became the Western Area Branch Manager in San Francisco, California where she served until 1992. From 1992 to 1997, McKissack was the vice president of sales for the Network Systems Division at 3Com. In 1997, she became senior vice president of Worldwide Sales and Marketing for Open Port Technologies, Inc. In 2000, McKissack founded Nia Enterprises L.L.C., a Chicago-based marketing data solutions firm. In 2006, she was named by The Network Journal as one of the 25 Influential Top Women.
