|a Author and nonprofit executive Yvette Moyo was born on December 8, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois. Moyo attended South Shore High School before graduating from Eastern Illinois University in 1974 with her B.A. degree in African American Studies. Moyo worked in sales at Dollars & Sense magazine from 1977 until 1988, when she co-founded the marketing firm, Resource Associates International, Ltd. (RAI) with then-husband Karega Kofi Moyo. In 1990, Moyo launched Real Men Cook, an annual Father's Day celebration. In 1992, she created the MOBE (Marketing Opportunities in Business & Entertainment) symposium. And in 2003, Moyo founded the nonprofit organization Real Men Charities. She co-authored two books: Real Men Cook: More Than 100 Easy Recipes Celebrating Tradition and Family, and Real Women Cook: Building Healthy Communities with Recipes that Stir the Soul. Moyo also received multiple awards, including the Woman in Entertainment Pioneer Award and 50 Women of Excellence Award.
