Summary: | Judge Edwin A. Lombard was born on June 11, 1946 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated from Xavier Preparatory High School in 1964. He was one of the first African American students admitted to Tulane University in New Orleans and graduated with his B.A. degree in 1967. He received his J.D. degree from Loyola University Law School in 1970. Lombard was elected as the Clerk of the Orleans Parish Criminal District Court in 1973, one of the youngest African American elected officials in the United States. He stayed there until 2003. Lombard was selected as the Chief Election Officer for the Orleans Parish, the first African American to hold this position in the South. He was elected to the Fourth District Court of Appeals in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2002. In 2012, Lombard was awarded the George W. Crockett, Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Bar Association.
