| Summary: | Corporate executive Evern D. Cooper was born in Clarendon, Arkansas. Cooper earned her B.A. degree in English and journalism from Michigan State University; and her M.A. degree at Emory University in Atlanta. She began her career as a high school teacher. In 1975, she took a part-time job at United Parcel Service and began as a delivery truck driver and rose through the corporate ranks in various positions, including strategic planning, delivery information, training and business development. In 1992, she was transferred to the UPS Foundation to implement global philanthropic programs. She became president of the Foundation in 1998. Under her leadership, the Foundation contributed over $53 million to United Way. She was also on the board of the Close-Up Foundation and the Points of Light Foundation. She was also on the "List of Georgia's 100 Most Powerful and Influential Women in Corporate America".
