| Summary: | Actor, singer, and stage producer Adam Wade was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on March 17, 1935. He was raised by his grandparents in Pittsburgh's East Liberty neighborhood and graduated from Westinghouse High School in 1952. Wade started singing while still in high school. In 1958, he got his first recording opportunity. Two years later, he moved to New York full-time, and his first hit, Ruby, was released that same year. He had three top ten singles in 1961: Take Good Care of Her, The Writing on the Wall and As If I Didn't Know. He later moved to acting, beginning with commercials and voice-over work and then, in 1970, starring in the film Wanderlove. He continued to be featured in films and television shows including Good Times and Sanford & Son. In 1975, Wade became the first black man to host a game show with Musical Chairs.
