Summary: | Corporate CEO and lawyer, Roger W. Ferguson, Jr. was born in 1951, in Washington, D.C. He obtained his B.A. degree in economics from Harvard University. In 1979, Ferguson graduated with his J.D. degree from Harvard Law School, and in 1981, he received his Ph.D. degree in economics from Harvard University. Ferguson began his legal career at Davis Polk & Wardell, LLP in New York and later became an associate and later partner at McKinsey & Company Inc., where he was also director of research and information systems. In 1997, Ferguson was appointed governor, and vice chairman in 1999, of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. In 2008, he joined the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association - College Retirement Equities Fund. He also served as an economic advisor to President Barack Obama. He has received a distinguished service award from the Bond Market Association and an honorary Fellowship at Pembroke College, Cambridge University.
