Summary: | Broadcast executive William H. Dilday, Jr. was born on September 14, 1937, in Boston, Massachusetts. He earned his B.A. degree and B.S. degree from Boston University. He began his career as operations supervisor for IBM Corporation in 1964. He became personnel administrator and public relations director at Edgerton, Germehausen & Grier, Inc. in 1968, and director of personnel for WHDH-TV from 1969 to 1972. Dilday was general manager of WLBT-TV/WLBM-TV from 1972 to 1984, later becoming chief operation officer. Dilday led the station to number one in Nielsen and Arbitron ratings, increasing gross revenue and profits annually during his tenure. He then moved to WJTV-TV as general manager and executive vice president. Dilday joined News-Press and Gazette as corporate vice president, before going on to serve as president and chief executive officer of Kerimax Communications, Incorporated, as well as guest columnist for the Jackson Clarion Ledger.
