Summary:Corporate executive Thelma A. Sias was born on June 19, 1953, in Mayersville, Mississippi. Her grandfather, Henry Sias, was a founding member of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party. Sias attended began her schooling in segregated schools, but was one of the first classes of students to integrate schools in Issaquena County. She earned her B.S. degree from Clark College, now Clark Atlanta University, in 1976. Sias went on to work at the University of Wisconsin-Green bay as supervisor of the Ethnic Heritage Recruitment Center. She joined Wisconsin Gas Company in 1986, serving in numerous positions, including director of community affairs, director of local affiars, and vice president of local affairs, until her retirement in 2017. Sias also served on a number of boards, and as a community campaign c-chair for the United Way of Greater Milwaukee, and was named to Savoy magazine's 2016 list of Top Influential Women in Corporate America.
