Summary:Politician Audrey M. Edmonson was born on January 27, 1953, in Miami Dade County, Florida. She graduated from Miami Jackson High School in 1971, and went on to obtain her A.A. degree from Miami Dade College in 1991. Edmonson later received her B.A. degree in psychology from Florida International University in 1994, and her dual M.S. degree in marriage family therapy and mental health counseling from Barry University. After high school, Edmonson worked as a flight attendant for Eastern Air Lines for fifteen years before going back to school. In 1997, she was elected to the Village of El Portal City Council as council person, where she was later elected as mayor in 1999. She was elected to the Miami Dade County Board of Commissioners in 2005 as District three commissioner, where she was re-elected two times. Edmonson also served her community on a variety of boards.
