Summary:Radio and television host Tanya Hart was born on January 29, 1949 in Muskegon, Michigan. She began her career in radio on Michigan State University's WKAR-FM, where she graduated in 1971 with her B.A. degree in communications and media studies, going on to earn her M.Ed. degree from Harvard University. Hart worked briefly at WGBH in Boston, Massachusetts, before joining WBZ-TV, where she served as host and contributing producer of the Emmy-award-winning Coming Together, and as announcer for WBZ's 5:30 PM Newscast. Hart joined BET in 1990, opening up the company's West Coast production operations, in addition to hosting and producing "Live from LA with Tanya Hart." She founded Tanya Hart Communications in 1996. Hart also served as host for the radio programs Hart Live and Hollywood Live with Tanya Hart. In 2016, she became the first African American, and first woman, to be elected co-chair of The Caucus for Producers, Writers & Directors.
