Updating their definitive compilation of research on the psychology of women (CH, Apr'94, 31-4652), Denmark (Graduate School, CUNY) and Paludi (Union Graduate College) offer here new essays and revised versions of essays that appeared in the first edition. Many of the latter are by scholars now considered foundational researchers in the field--in addition to the editors, Janet Shibley Hyde, Ruth Fassinger, Nancy Betz, Janet Sigel, Phyllis Katz, et al. The chapter on research and teaching has been considerably updated and expanded. Other revised chapters include those on career development, gender stereotypes, friendship, and developmental theory. The editors deleted the chapter on pregnancy and added an extensive chapter on women's sexuality. A lengthy review titled "Intimate Partner Violence" replaces the previous review of literature on victims. Important new chapters address international aspects of research on women/gender, workplace sexual harassment, and domestic violence. Substantially updated, this volume will be an invaluable resource; the first edition merits retention for its seminal research in the field. Summing Up: Highly recommended. Upper-division undergraduates through faculty and professionals. D. L. Loers Wartburg College
