Mrs. Nichols, food editor of Farm Journal, has made elaborate handwritten notations alongside these 50-year-old country recipes for making jams and candies, pickles and baked beans, yeast breads and gala holiday hams. Directions have been updated and certain cumbersome procedures like home canning have been completely rewritten.
