Summary:The book synthesizes a collective effort of eight years around the Mapocho River and the recovery of its banks to transform it into a public space of metropolitan scale (a green axis of 42 kilometers in length). The MAPOCHO 42k project was born out of an academic experience developed at the School of Architecture of the Catholic University of Chile in the spring of 2009, which took as its starting point the planning of the architect Mario Pérez de Arce about the importance of the Mapocho River in the formation of an Integrated Parks System. From that moment on, this book describes and documents this project from its beginnings 8 years ago, until its transformation into a work of public interest in 2012, and current implementation in stages throughout the different communes that host it.
