The stated purpose of this volume is to use a mixed-method content analysis of media coverage and Twitter posts to explore the voices that have been excluded from the #MeToo movement. Unfortunately, however, the book does not deliver the research promised. Most of the text is dedicated to restating existing information on the intersecting forces that make people who are marginalized by race, gender, sexuality, and disability more vulnerable to sexual abuse and less likely to be heard. Although the author provides a useful summary of these literatures, there is little analysis of the actual #MeToo movement, its activities, its participants, and their posts. In fact, there is no presentation of research methodology and findings, so when discussions of the #MeToo movement appear in the text, they seem superficial. Overall, this book is useful for providing an overview of the sociocultural factors that lead to the exclusion of some voices in conversations about sexual violence. Nevertheless, this work does not contribute new insights into the #MeToo movement and does not expand scholarship in the areas of digital activism and organizing against contemporary sexism, misogyny, and rape culture in general.
