This is one of the best of a relatively small number of books on the international legal implications of contemporary terrorism and could serve as an excellent introduction to the subject. Blakesley not only examines the intellectual, historical, and sociopolitical background to what he calls "the modern blood feud," but also considers its relationship to domestic law and constitutional order before offering analyses of related legal factors such as extraterritorial jurisdiction, international extradition, and questions of exceptions to extradition as well as various procedural considerations. The author provides short but useful appended essays titled "The Erosion of the Exclusionary Rule," and "The War on Drugs and Terrorism." The bibliography is one of the best and most comprehensive on the subject. This book is highly recommended for professional and general courses on international law and international terrorism; it should be of considerable interest to general audiences interested in the topic.
