Summary:	1944 utolsó napjaiban a Vörös Hadsereg civilek tízezreit hurcolta többéves kényszermunkára a Szovjetunióba állítólagos német származásuk okán. Az embertelen körülmények miatt az elszállított nők és férfiak mintegy egyharmada életét vesztette a fogság éveiben. A deportálások tényét a rendszerváltásig szinte teljes titoktartás övezte, s az átfogó, több szempontot érvényesítő tudományos feldolgozás azóta is váratott magára. E kötet a köznyelvben csak "malenkij robot"-ként ismert esemény részleteit tárja fel Magyarország deportálásban érintett összes régiójában. Olyan alapvető kérdésekre keres és ad választ, mint hogy hol, mikor, pontosan milyen szempontok alapján és hány főt hurcoltak el, illetve s szovjet katonák mellett milyen szerep jutott a magyar közigazgatásnak az akció végrehajtásában.
