Luttrell (public relations, Syracuse Univ.) and McGrath (communications, College of Saint Rose), who previously co-authored The Millennial Mindset (2015), now offer insight into Generation Z (or Gen Z). The book focuses on understanding Gen Z through the lens of common superhero tropes, such as double identities and fighting for just causes. Part 1 provides an overview of previous generations and superheroes in popular culture. Part 2 describes the overlapping characteristics between superheroes and Gen-Zers, particularly in the classroom and the workplace. Part 3 provides a summary of the authors' survey on perceptions of Gen Z across generations. Part 4 offers advice on improving connections with Gen-Zers as parents, teachers, and coworkers. Though the authors are academics, the audience and tone are non-scholarly, as evidenced by the casual writing style, the absence of a literature review, the lack of justification for the rhetorical framework, and the avoidance of expectations in survey research practices in chapter 6. However, the book is useful in helping readers easily grasp and remember some of the salient features of Gen Z that could be useful for educators, marketers, or Gen-Zers seeking self-reflection. Summing Up: Recommended. General readers, undergraduates, and professionals. --Taylor Jonathon Greene, Chapman University
