Summary:"This story is a journey through time and space to the world of our ancestors - those we remember and those from hundreds of thousands of years ago. In southern Poland, traces of the ancestors of modern man, up to half a million years old, have been found, and in one of the caves of the Kraków-Częstochowa Jura, remains of a group of representatives of the Magdalenian culture, perhaps killed and eaten in a cannibalistic feast about fifteen thousand years ago. This picturesque limestone landscape is the home of our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers who speak to us in dreams, return in subconscious fears. Andrzej Muszyński's book defies classification: It is both beautiful autobiographical prose essay and prehistoric investigative reportage. It is a story full of colorful characters, and our ancestors belonging to various hominid species are depicted as vividly as the author's grandfather or neighbors."--Translation of page 4 of cover.
