Binding: contemporary red morocco over boards; elaborate gold tooling; red tin inlays; centerpieces of tin illustrated scenes under glass (on front cover a harbor scene of two fishermen clamming, with sailboats and a building in the background, on back cover a different seaside scene with ducks and a port village); mirror on front pastedown; pocket with blue silk sides built into rear pastedown; Dutch gilt paper flyleaves; gold edges; housed in later blue morocco case with gold ruled covers and gold tooled spine signed by Bumpus Ltd., Oxford St. W.; housed with another volume in dark blue, gold tooled morocco case by Riviere & Son.
Notes:Date of publication inferred from 1787 calendar on folded plates.
Main text is ballads with names of tunes given. Contains 13 engraved plates of coiffures and a woodcut calendar consisting of two folded plates.
