Summary:The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust's library holds over 1,800 printed books dating from the Early Modern period, acquired over the years, in many cases as bequests from collectors. Drawn from the library's holdings, this collection comprises a selection of 24 texts, all of which have been annotated by contemporary readers. The texts themselves have been selected to cover a wide range of topics, from well-known literary works to medical tracts, treatises on heraldry and political figures and family Bibles.
