Althamer broadens the conventional concept of art with unusual techniques, materials, and approaches. Social initiatives significantly determine his artistic program. Althamer being awarded the 2022 Lovis Corinth Prize and is dedicated to his projects so far as well as to new works.0//0Der international agierende Bildhauer und Performance-Künstler Pawel Althamer (*1967) arbeitet oft an Projekten in geplanten oder zufälligen Kooperationen, die sozial belastete Strukturen aufzubrechen versuchen. Auf spirituelle Weise, frei von konkreten religiösen Auffassungen, setzt er sich immer wieder mit seinem Selbstporträt auseinander. Mit ungewöhnlichen Techniken, Materialien und Vorgehensweisen erweitert Althamer den herkömmlichen Kunstbegriff. Soziale Initiativen bestimmen wesentlich sein künstlerisches Programm.
