Description
Summary:Studies of online public access catalog use have shown that failure rates of 40 percent are common, advanced features (series searches, Boolean searches, and call number browsing, etc.) aren't used heavily, and about 20 percent of all failed searches are due to misspellings and typographical errors. The emphasis of this work is on user behavior, rather than attitudes, wishes and comments. Problems with the use of online catalogs are identified, and potential solutions examined. Also included is a classified, annotated bibliography.
