Broken mouth from 14-18, Édouard Roux finds refuge in the studio of the animal sculptor Jeanne Sauvage. She gave him a new face and introduced him to the circle of artists in Montmartre. In exchange, Édouard introduces him to the majesty of the Vercors plateau and the story of the last bear killed before his eyes when he was a child. At the heart of the Cirque d'Archiane, he reveals the "Last Queen" to Jeanne, encouraging her to create the masterpiece that will make her recognised.
